Duotone Kiteboarding GKA freestyle 2020

The first and only GKA freestyle event of the 2020 season just wrapped up in Ilha Do Guajiru, Brazil.

 

Mikaili Sol continued her unstoppable performance talking the victory with an incredible finals.  With a heat score of 36.17 score out of a possible 40 points, Mika put a sizeable margin into the women’s field to take victory at her home event.

Joining her in the finals were two of her team mates, Pippa Van Iersel and Claudia León in a closely contested battle for the 3rd and 4th spots coming down to less than a point between the two, a testament to competitive level this year.

In the mens division World Champion Valentin Rodriguez after cleanly making it through his first heats came unstuck in the semi finals and this was the end of the run for the 2019 world champion. Coming up short of the final has lit a fire of motivation for Valentin for the 2021 season.

Veteran Alex Neto with little preparation leading into the event put on an incredible performance that showcased his experience and style and he ended up narrowly missing a spot in the finals. Taking equal 5th position alongside his Brazilian teammate Guilherme Costa.
