The bar connects you to your kite, it is extremely important for the handling and performance of your kite and, above all, for your safety. Despite all this, the bar is often not given the attention it deserves. That´s why we have put together this summary of the most important terms and functionality – so you can find the right bar for you and your kiteboarding style!

The difference between the Click Bar and the Trust Bar lies in several technical details that affect performance and handling.

Iron Heart System

The Duotone Click Bar features the innovative Iron Heart 5, which automatically untwists the power lines, a major advantage during jumps and rotations.
With the Duotone Trust Bar, the lines must be manually untwisted while riding.

Line Lengths

The Click Bar is available in 20/22 m or 22/24 m setups. You can easily adjust the line length and V-position for perfect compatibility with your kite.
The Trust Bar comes in 19 m, 22 m, 24 m, or 27 m - ideal for a variety of wind conditions and riding styles.

Depower System

The Duotone Click Bar features a unique Depower System for 4-line kites, eliminating unnecessary clutter. You can depower the kite without changing your body position, perfect for smaller riders or those with shorter arms.

Bar Widths

Both Kite Bars come in different sizes:

• Click Bar: 42 cm or 49 cm

• Trust Bar: adjustable via the Flip-Flop function to 42/49 cm or 46/53 cm

This allows you to match the bar perfectly to your kite and personal style.

Stopper System

The Click Bar includes a sliding stopper that automatically moves under pressure, ensuring maximum safety. It can also be fixed in place if needed.
The Trust Bar features a fixed stopper, which is ideal for board-off tricks.

5th Line

By default, the Click Bar is a 4-line system, but it can be upgraded with a 5th line for added safety and easier relaunch in light wind conditions.

Duotone offers several chicken loop kits to match every riding style. Whether you love unhooked tricks or prefer relaxed freeriding, there’s a setup for everyone:

• Wakestyle Kit: large chicken loop with long safety leash, perfect for unhooked tricks.

• Freestyle Kit: classic all-rounder, ideal for both freestyle and freeride.

• Freeride Kit: small chicken loop with short leash, offers more safety and a longer depower range.

• Rope Harness Kit: designed for wave riders using a rope harness; it prevents your harness from shifting during turns.

Every well-designed Kite Bar comes with a three-stage safety system:

1. Let go of the bar: The kite loses almost all its power and falls safely into the water.

2. Quick release: The kite completely depowers, only one line remains under tension.

3. Safety leash: In an emergency, you can completely disconnect from the kite.

All Duotone Kite Bars comply with the international ISO Standard 21853, which guarantees maximum safety for quick-release systems on kite bars.
All Duotone Bars (Click Bar and Trust Bar) and safety leashes from 2020 onwards meet this standard, and all products with the Iron Heart VI are certified.

A 5th line offers additional safety and makes relaunching easier in light wind.
It’s optional (except for the Duotone Vegas) and provides extra control for experienced riders.
Beginners should handle it carefully when relaunching to avoid inverting the kite.

The line length has a major influence on your kite’s performance:

• Short lines (19–22 m): ideal for strong wind and small kites.

• Long lines (24–27 m): better for light wind and larger kites.

The Kite Bar size is equally important:

• Narrow bars (42 cm): for kites up to 10 m², more control for agile kites.

• Wide bars (49–53 cm): for bigger kites, stronger steering input and smoother handling.

In addition to various line lengths, Duotone offers different Kite Bar widths.
Compared to a short bar, a wide Kite Bar creates a stronger steering response from the same input.
For example, to achieve the same movement with a shorter bar like the Click Bar, you’d need to steer about 10° more.

Larger kites require stronger steering impulses, which makes wide bars advantageous.
For smaller kites, shorter bars provide more precise control, as these kites respond very quickly to input.
