What was the main objective when developing the Float SLS 2026?
Ken:
The mission was to create the most uncompromised wave wing in our range. We focused on minimizing drag, maximizing drift stability, and building the stiffest, lightest frame possible. Wave riding demands neutrality and precision — and every design detail serves that purpose.
Why did you choose 135g PentaTX for the leading edge and strut for the Float SLS?
Ken:
PentaTX allows us to reduce elongation by about 50% compared to standard 160g Dacron, while increasing tear resistance. That means we can reduce the leading-edge diameter without sacrificing stiffness or durability. The thinner diameter lowers drag, and the added stiffness keeps the draft extremely stable — even when fully powered.
Jeffrey:
You really notice it in stronger wind. The wing keeps its shape perfectly and delivers very direct, clean power.
Finn:
And because the frame is lighter, transitions feel faster and more reactive. When you’re riding down the line, the wing almost disappears.

»The Float SLS feels incredibly light and reactive. It drifts effortlessly and gives you direct, precise control, allowing you to fully focus on your surfing and push harder on the wave. «
How does the design improve drift and FreeFly performance?
Ken:
We combined a low sweep angle with a forward-oriented profile. That stabilizes the center of effort and gives extremely smooth, predictable sheeting.
Finn:
The lower angle wingtips are crucial for drift. The wing stays up effortlessly when carving — it doesn’t pull you off the wave.
Jeffrey:
In FreeFly mode, especially downwind, the Float SLS swings naturally and stays neutral, but power is instantly available when needed.
How does the Float SLS perform in terms of top-end and riding angles?
Ken:
Thanks to the stiff PentaTX frame and reduced drag, the Float SLS maintains efficiency at higher wind speeds. You can hold more power, improve upwind and downwind angles, and extend the usable wind range.
Finn:
You can keep riding when the wind picks up and still feel fully in control.

The wing follows a very minimalist design concept. Why remove windows?
Ken:
In pure wave riding, weight is everything. Removing windows and keeping a boom-only setup reduces overall mass and improves balance. The goal was peak performance without unnecessary elements.
How does the original Float differ from the Float SLS in feel?
Ken:
The Float shares the same design DNA — low sweep, forward profile, smooth sheeting — but uses 160g Dacron throughout the frame. That results in a slightly more forgiving and dampened feel while maintaining excellent drift and control.
Who is the Float best suited for?
Finn:
The Float is ideal for riders who want outstanding wave performance with proven durability and a very balanced, comfortable feel. It’s extremely versatile and confidence-inspiring.
What makes the Float such a strong wave allrounder?
Jeffrey:
It combines smooth, consistent power delivery with excellent drift stability. The slightly softer frame feedback makes it very controlled in gusty conditions while still delivering strong riding angles and performance.
Ken:
Both wings are built around the same wave-focused philosophy.
The Float SLS delivers maximum performance, lowest weight, and ultimate responsiveness.
The Float offers balanced, durable, and highly refined wave performance.
The choice depends on how far you want to push your performance.
