BRAND-NEW AND UNIQUE
THE INTRODUCTION OF THE D/LAB BOARDS IN 2024 MARKED THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA. NOW, IN 2026, WE ARE EXCITED TO PRESENT THE BIGGEST UPDATE IN OUR BOARD HISTORY EVER. APART FROM ALL NEW SHAPES, NO STONE WAS LEFT UNTURNED AND WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT YOU SOME UNPRECEDENTED AND TRULY UNIQUE FEATURES, PROCESSES AND TECHNOLOGIES.
360° R&D
With designer Kai Hopf and our product managers Dani Aeberli and Marco Lang, one and the same team is now responsible for the board, rig and even fin development. This results in an unrivalled board-rig ecosystem in which all DUOTONE products are really matching 100% now.
Besides this perfect match, the other driving force behind our R&D is the relentless push of our wave team around Victor Fernandez and Liam Dunkerbeck for better and better products.
WORLD WIDE WAVE RIDE - DEVELOPED AND TESTED ON MAUI AND EUROPE
From storm-chasing the rugged reef breaks of Ireland to the ground swell of Brittany, Canarias high wind spots, the endless point breaks of Cape Verde, and the powerful beach breaks of Klitmøller and Cape Town, all our wave boards have been tested at these spots. And, of course, they have been pushed to the limits on the legendary North Shore of Maui - truly the ultimate proving ground for any down-the-line board.
SUPERIOR TECHNOLOGY
Unlike the industry-standard semi custom technology, all our boards are now produced in a full custom technology which results in the best weight vs. strength ratio.
AI_BOARD_3D DESIGN SOFTWARE
In contrast to the industry-standard Shape3d program, our own exclusive 3D CAD software is based on math data-driven input. This allows us to cross-check the outcome using artificial intelligence to ensure maximum precision. Apart from being much more accurate and faster, complex 3D design tasks such as our ground-breaking SYNCED CURVES CONCEPT would otherwise have been simply impossible to realize.
CNC SHAPED ONLY
All our boards are CNC shaped now which is not only much more accurate, but opens more decisive advantages compared to the traditional mould construction method which allows us to implement new shapes at any time.
PRODUCTION FOCUSED DEVELOPMENT
Every single prototype is made in our exclusive factory using the exact same process and materials as the production boards. This way, each prototype has exactly the same weight and flex and therefore feels identical to the board you get.
PRODUCT DETAILS
ON A REAL GROUND-SWELL WALL, A PRODUCTION BOARD REACHES ITS LIMIT BEFORE YOU DO. THE COSMIC (3) D/LAB DOESN'T. CNC-SHAPED AND HAND-FINISHED AS A TRUE ONE-OF-ONE, IT SINKS INTO THE ARC AND HOLDS HARDER THE HARDER YOU DRIVE. EXACT ROCKER, CONSISTENT FLEX, FINS THAT HOLD TRUE. NEW ASYMMETRIC SIDE FINS ADD GRIP OUT OF THE TURN; 100-200 G GONE, FELT ON EVERY PUMP. YOUR BOARD. YOUR SERIAL. YOUR WAVE.
The Cosmic (3) D/LAB is a Made-to-Order full custom wave board in tri fin setup, built by Duotone for advanced and expert riders who chase powerful ground swell and windy Euro wave conditions. FULL CUSTOM Production, CNC shaped to exact tolerances, and individually handcrafted: this is the D/LAB standard applied to wave riding.
The 2027 update sharpens the shape at every key point. A refined tuck line in the mid-front section improves acceleration and control as you drive off the bottom. Increased nose rocker delivers clean crossings even through gnarly white water. The refined tail outline responds faster in the turn, with more grip as you commit to the rail. New asymmetric side fins add drive and grip out of turns. A refined layup trims between 100 and 200 g from the board (depending on board length), a difference you feel on every pump and every turn.
The D/LAB technology underneath all of this is FULL CUSTOM Production: unlike industry-standard semi-custom processes, each board is shaped and built individually using the highest-grade layup. That precision lands in the ride. Consistent flex, exact rocker, fin-track positions that hold true. A unique serial number marks every Cosmic (3) D/LAB as its own.
The riding profile for the Cosmic (3) D/LAB is defined as following: committed riding-style for most vertical turns on fast and powerful surf. The higher nose rocker means this wave board rewards a powerful wave and a rider who pushes into the turn. On a proper ground-swell wall, the board sinks into the arc and holds harder the harder you go. The flat double concave under the feet shifts to a mono concave toward the tail for full control even under max. speed.
The Cosmic (3) D/LAB wave board is Made-To-Order, delivered to your door. Production time up to 18 weeks; express air shipping available.

ROCKER LINE
From the straps back, the GRIP and COSMIC have very similar rockers with a (rail) tail-kick at the last 4-5cm from the tail.
> Allows both boards to perform super tight top turns.
GRIP
In the mid section between the mast-track and the nose, the GRIP has slightly less nose rocker.
> The lower front two-thirds of the GRIP allows the board to plain up earlier and at a tighter angle to the wind.
> It will also keep its momentum better at lower speeds, more drawn out turns and rounder/flatter/ less powerful waves.
> On the wave this lower front section puts you in a more upright position, making it much easier to engage the front foot during bottom turns.
COSMIC
Features a higher rocker in front of the straps and at the nose.
> The board needs more power to maintain its speed. Therefore it requires a more powerful wave and/or wind.
> In marginal conditions, you will end up having to bare off the wind more to keep your speed. Therefore, it is less suitable for smaller onshore waves.
> However, on a powerful ground-swell wave, the board will push back less and tends to sink more into the wave. This gives you more control on a full rail turn and the board will want to turn harder the harder you engage it.
BOTTOM SHAPE
Both boards feature a V double-concave in the front.
> Improves riding comfort, control going out and upwind performance.
GRIP
Maintains an alternating V throughout the entire length.
> The V acts like a seesaw, making it easier to put the board onto the rail even in slower waves.
COSMIC
The bottom transforms into a flat double concave underneath the feet, followed by a mono concave towards the tail.
> Provides additional control even during high-speed rail-to-rail turns on fast ground-swell waves.
OUTLINE
GRIP
Features a wider nose-area.
> Generates more lift when deeper in the water and gives the rail more resistance when in the water, giving you more power/drive on smaller or less powerful surf.
COSMIC
Features a narrower nose outline.
> Gives you more control during the bottom turn at higher speed in bigger ground-swell waves.
TAIL SHAPE
GRIP
Features a wider tail.
> Provides better acceleration and more counter-pressure when jumping or during turns on slower waves.
COSMIC
Features a narrower tail.
> Improves control in higher ground-swell waves.

QUAD SETUP
Ideal for side/side-off and/or strong current as it gives you more grip especially for lighter riders and smaller boards.
Attention: does not work well in onshore conditions since the 4 fins produce extra drag and are not ideal for slashy turns especially in slower waves.
TRI SETUP
Ideal for side/side-on conditions as it allows you to go more vertical and looser in your turns. Keep in mind in higher waves a Tri setup requires a more committed vertical riding style.
