The Evo has been in the Duotone line up for many years now, and in the constant search for improvement, it has become the best performing kite across all disciplines. Riders like Tom Hebert don’t let kiteboarding define them, and they love to do freestyle as much as they love old school big air and foiling. The Evo is Tom’s choice, as it doesn’t hold him back, no matter what he decides to do. For 2020 we removed the pulleys from the bridle, this has the effect of increasing the responsiveness of the kite while still offering incredible depower. There is also a new trailing edge design incorporating a wave pattern that drastically reduces flutter and canopy wear in this critical area. The Evo can be flown as a four or five line kite, and the three-strut delta design is ready for anything you decide to do. Kiteboarding has always been about freedom, don’t let other kites define you, let the Evo set you free!
Best allrounder of the range
An easy jumper with massive sheet-and-go qualities, offering huge depower, powerful lift and a massive hangtime. It's the most accessible kite for all type of riders.
Easy water relaunch
The relaunch is very fast and easy, thanks to the Delta design the kite doesn't stick to the water.
Powerful lift and huge hangtime
Perfect for freeride performance with explosive powerful lift and huge as well as long hangtime.
Delta Kite
The most comfortable design with a very smooth kite profile. Upwind ability is unmatched and steering performance is very forgiving.
Three-strut design
A lighter kite boosts agility and increases responsiveness. Turning is fast and the feeling at the bar is very predictable and responsive.
New trailing edge design for less canopy wear
A narrower trailing edge and a lighter combination of materials to reduce wear and to create a slicker kite profile.

No pulleys

Evo2020 Ride surfboard and foil with 2018 evos open ocean with waves west coast of North America. See my summary video comparison of 8m size here https://youtu.be/AuNNojUiwYs 2020 has same outline and similar overall feel to 2018. The 2020 is not just an evo with different colors. Removing the pulleys changed the turning and sheeting feel. Control, particularly when sheeted out a bit has improved. Downloops and turning while drifting are better and the 2020 is better for foiling, downwinders, and down the line wave riding. Prefer the 2018 sheeting feel but it is a subtle difference. The white color is actually a light gray canopy with white leading edge snd struts. Think it would look better and be more practical if the leading edge was a darker shade as depicted in website 3D renderings. Logo and colored panels are different colored canopy fabric not silk screened. The designed air pressure is now 7 psi up from 6 psi in previous years. The antisnag webbing can bunch up and hold a rear line and there is a seam in the tip that can catch the rear line. I’ve had that happen in the 2018 evo and the 2020 evo has the identical design. The graphics are very nice but I think it would look better with a single large logo in the middle with the arrow in the stylized D pointed forward. This would also serve a practical function in providing a visual clue as to the direction of travel.

Easy for waves and boosting

First two sessions with my 2020 Evo 14 showed that it turns well and boosts easily with some nice hang time. Winds were 13-22 knots and the Evo handled them nicely on a Jaime 139x42 twin tip for my 83 kgs- easy to fly even in the lighter winds and the canopy was wrinkle free and stable in the higher gusts. I felt that it turned faster than my 2018 Evo and I did not miss the sliders at all. The 7 psi inflation makes the kite a bit stiffer and only takes about three extra pumps. 2020 will be my second set of Evos after the 2018s and these kites do everything I want and provide a versatile kite that can do just about everything. I've ridden Neos for waves but did not like them as well for flat water blasting. The Rebel will still jump higher for me and it's a bit more stable in the gusts but really the Evo is so close that it is my choice for most conditions.

Great allrounder

The 2020 Evo is the perfect kite for freeriding and just allround kiting. I was using the Dice the last couple years and I switched to the Evo because it deals way better with gusts and has a better low end than the Dice. The hangtime is also way better. The Evo is a bit slower than the Dice, which makes it easier to do rotations during jumps.

My first kites

I finally bought my own gear 5 months ago after being on a rental package. Having taken advice, I have the 7, 9 and 12 sizes used with a 138 Select Board. I sail in the choppy waters in the South England, and weigh 80+ kilos. For my level the choice has been excellent. I had been thinking of going bigger, but that really has not been necessary I have been impressed by the wind range of all the kites, which overlap nicely, so even if I put up a small kite, it can keep me planing when the wind drops. The kites are amazingly stable and controllable in all conditions. The front bridles can get wrapped around the wing tips when inflating, so I always double check this. I would strongly recommend the Evo as a first kite, and expect it to take me through to the next level.
