A Freestyle Film from Soma Bay
New spot. New gear. New sessions. Same Next Gen energy. This year, our Freestyle Team headed to Soma Bay for a week of action, good times and team spirit on and off the water!
After last year’s team trip to Dakhla, it was time for the next chapter. We chose Egypt and the brand-new Duotone Pro Center at Wyte Beach, Soma Bay — bringing together Rocco Sotomayor, Benjamin May, Tom Acherer, Charlie Loch, Mar de Arce, Marie Schlittenbauer and Chiara Socin accompanied by Samuel Cardenas and Julien Leleu.
With warm water, consistent wind and plenty of space to ride, Soma Bay provided the perfect playground for the crew to make the most of every session. From powered freestyle action and new tricks to long sessions in front of the camera, the days were packed with riding, shooting and plenty of fun in between.
Bringing the team together away from the competition circuit is about more than capturing photos and footage. It’s a chance to ride together, learn from each other and share the energy that makes these trips so special.
The result is Next Gen Egypt — a new Freestyle Team Episode capturing the action, personalities and good times from Soma Bay.

For Rocco, Tom, Charlie, Benjamin and Mar, the trip was a reunion after being part of last year’s Dakhla adventure. Unfortunately, Tom’s twin brother Aleks was still recovering from injury and couldn’t join the crew this time. For Marie, on the other hand, Soma Bay marked her first team trip and photoshoot with Duotone, making the experience even more special.
And we were stoked to have Chiara with us. Combining her skills as both a rider and media creator and editor, she brings a unique perspective to every trip — as comfortable in front of the camera as she is helping tell the story behind it.
Special this to the crew from the Duotone Pro Center Soma Bay for all their support and hospitality- we will be back for sure!
