We caught up with our wing designer Ken Winner to find out more about that new light wind machine!

LIGHT WIND WING FOILING HAD PREVIOUSLY REQUIRED ADVANCED PUMPING TECHNIQUES, BUT THE VENTIS TRANSFORMS MARGINAL CONDITIONS WITH ACTIVE LIFT THAT PULLS YOU UP AND ON FOIL WITHOUT THE NEED FOR EXCESSIVE PUMPING.
Ken – what was the idea behind the Ventis?
In the past, light wind wing foiling has required advanced pumping techniques, but the Ventis changes the game. Its active lift pulls you effortlessly onto the foil without the need for excessive pumping. The Ventis is a new quite big wing with three struts for very light wind. It comes in two big sizes: 7m2 and 8m2.
Was there a special design needed to reach this?
With the three struts and tip struts on the side, the deep canopy shape can be carried all the way to the tip struts, which helps to empower the wing. The canopy maintains excellent tension and stability, allowing you to experience a smooth and controlled flight.
The three struts design also helps us to change the outline shape of the wing, so the tips of the leading edge do not extend so far back and they are way easier to keep out of the water, especially during the takeoff and while pumping. Even smaller or less experienced riders can now handle these big sizes with ease, thanks to this effective tip reduction.

The Ventis comes in two constructions - what´s the difference between the Ventis and the Ventis D/LAB?
Of course the D/LAB is lighter and stiffer, which is especially of advantage in very light wind conditions. Also the leading edge diameter is slightly smaller on the D/LAB to reduce drag and soften the ride a bit. The Ventis D/LAB utilizes premium Aluula material throughout the leading edge and struts, which is a high-performance material with a very fast response. Combining the Aluula leading edge and struts with a lightweight 50g ripstop canopy, ensures maximum responsiveness while keeping the wing light and agile.
