A high-performance product that lasts longer and best case can even be put into additional use on the secondhand market is the best and only way to conserve the resources of our earth. Of course, light components have a massive impact on the performance and handling of your rig. That's why light weight is always on our briefing list when designing and engineering new products. And DUOTONE products are among or in many cases are the lightest on the market.
Since we are fully aware of the importance of sustainability, we cannot simply stop here. We are consistently looking at new opportunities to reduce our footprint.
Duotone has partnered with Waste2Wear to make all sail bags out of 100% recycled plastic bottles
(RPET). The base of this material 30% of the plastic is retrieved from the ocean and coastline by former fishermen and other collectors. The balance is prevented from ending up in a landfill. Waste2Wear processes the waste into yarn to responsibly produce high-qualitiy fabrics and textile products.
We use these innovative textiles made from recycled plastic for all our sailbags from 2021.
+ An average size sail bag is made from 35 bottles.
+ This way we reuse 8.8 tonnes of plastic per season.
We are the only brand that packages all of our sails without the use of plastic films and foam packaging, which saves around five square metres of PVC film and foam for each individual sail packaging. Now we have also eliminated all plastic tubes from the booms arms and bubble wrap from the ends. To assure they are still getting to you safely each boom comes in a single cardboard box.
+ Duotone aluminium products, like booms, extensions & bases are manufactured in a CO2 neutral production facility.
+ Plus, we keep shipping distances at a minimum: Our aluminium booms, extensions & bases are produced in Germany using 100% European raw materials in order to reduce transport routes to our manufacture and then to our central warehouse at most.
By supporting a hydropower carbon offset project in Sri Lanka, the country where our sails are produced, we compensate all carbon emissions caused by our sails and hardware during manufacture and transport.

We have every tiny little part of our products available for you in our spare part shop to make it as easy as possible to upgrade your equipment. Find the spare part you need here.
Some, although very few, accessories still come in a plastic bag. To protect these items and to reduce the environmental impact at the same time, these bags have been exchanged for 100% recycled plastic bags.
