MY FAVORITE WEAPON OF CHOICE IN BASICALLY ANY CONDITIONS...
There’s something magical the moment you kite out on a Whip D/LAB. I own the 5’1” with 80kg and average skills and it simply makes me a better rider, it makes everything more fun. It’s like the universe slows and you’re connecting — to the wave, to the wind, to everything around you. Every carve, every snap off the lip feels alive, sharp and perfect. This board doesn’t just ride waves — it transforms them. I'm not good at strapless, but that satisfying “pop” in strapless freestyle, you feel you can actually improve faster. The materials and craftsmanship don’t just promise performance — they deliver joy, confidence, and that pure rush every surfer chases. Never gonna swop my Whip D/LAB ever. :-)
Whiplash
The older versions of the d lab boards always seemed a little fragile to me as I am a bigger guy, so I stuck to the sls boards for their durability. Not anymore! This board is strong and light and sticks to your feet during jumps. This board is a one board quiver. When anyone asks me what board to buy I always say this one and let them try it out for good measure. I do wish they would offer it as a quad/5 fin option. I also really like that they got away from the white board look that yellowed over time.
RIP TO MY OLD BOARD
As a female rider, finding a new board that’s small enough with the right volume distribution hasn’t been easy. Had been on the same board for years. I tried over a dozen shapes from different brands and custom builders, but I couldn't find anything I really liked, until I tried the D/LAB Whip. It’s easily my favorite board I’ve ever ridden. It’s snappy and lively on the waves, and really easy to get on the rail. It feels light, but still holds the rail so well and never feels bouncy, even in chop. The construction feels amazing- stiff, responsive, and fast, but still smooth through the water. My friends also tell me I’m spoiled now with how easily I stay upwind with this board.
