I grew up happily, always near the ocean, as my mum and dad were windsurfers, so I guess everything comes from there... and from watching R.I.P. (Robby Naish) and About Time (Jason Polakow) movies 20 times a week! Once I learnt some basic moves and surfed my first waves, I knew it was no way back. It took a little bit long for me, as I didn’t have any kids gear, and I was really small and skinny until I was 16-17 years old. As I didn’t have much money for travel, I could only dream about going to all of those places I saw in movies and PWA events... Maui, Cape Verde, Canaries, Klitmoller... So I dreamed, and I made sure that I would take every bit of wind and/or waves at home to improve my skills, leaving behind all kinds of activities that could compromise my time in the water. I was training off the water as much as I could, as you don’t have many good days down here! But at least, I was making sure that if the day came, I would be in the water nonstop as long there’s daylight.
