Borkum turns up the pressure at stop #2 of the GKA Freestyle World Tour
GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup Germany, 3–7 June 2026, Borkum
After opening the 2026 season at the brand-new tour stop in Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico, the world’s best freestyle riders arrived in Borkum for yet another addition to this year’s GKA Freestyle World Tour calendar.
With only three events scheduled for the season, every result carries serious weight in the race for the world titles — and Borkum delivered exactly the kind of demanding North Sea conditions expected from the German stop.

Women
Claudia León (ESP) once again proved why she is considered one of the top riders on tour, carrying strong form throughout the event.
Claudia secured her place in the final after posting the highest score of her semi-final with 19.84 points. In the final against reigning World Champion Bruna Kajiya (BRA), Francesca Bagnoli (ITA) and Kaya Lehmann (GER), an impressive 8.37-point Heart Attack kept the Spaniard firmly in contention throughout the heat, eventually securing second place in Borkum with 24.03 points.

Francesca Bagnoli also returned to competition in strong form after missing the opening stop in Mexico. The Italian rider booked her place in the final with a solid 21.30-point semi-final performance built on clean execution and technical variety before finishing fourth overall in Borkum.
Adding to the Duotone presence in the women’s fleet, Martyna Konkel (POL) advanced through to the semi-finals in a highly competitive field.
Men
Reigning World Champion Finn Flügel (GER) delivered one of the standout performances of the event on home waters.
In a stacked semi-final against Davi Ribeiro (BRA), Gianmaria Coccoluto (ITA) and Matteo Dorotini (ITA), Finn immediately found his rhythm, opening with a series of high-scoring tricks and controlling the heat from the start.

His 29.85-point total became the highest semi-final score of the event, built on a powerful mix of technicality and execution, including a KGB5 and Heart Attack 5.
Former World Champion Gianmaria Coccoluto (ITA) also looked dangerous throughout the event, posting a strong 28.83 points in Round 3 before narrowly missing out on a place in the final in one of the toughest semi-finals of the competition.
The men’s final delivered exactly the kind of intense showdown Borkum had been building towards all week. Maxime Chabloz (SUI) laid down a massive 33-point heat to take the win, while Davi Ribeiro (BRA) and Finn kept the pressure on throughout the final.
With another strong series of tricks, Finn secured third place overall with 28.53 points in front of the home crowd.

Thanks to the team for pushing hard in Borkum all week.
Congratulations also go out to Maxime Chabloz (SUI) and Bruna Kajiya (BRA) for taking the wins.
After a break in the freestyle calendar, the tour will return in October for its final stop in Taiba, Brazil, where the 2026 world titles will be decided — and we’re already looking forward to the showdown.
