THE LANGEBAAN WINDSURF CUP 2025
CRYSTAL BLUE WATERS, PLENTY OF SUNSHINE, TEMPERATURES ABOVE 20 DEGREES, AND PERFECT WINDS... WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR TO HOST AMAZING SLALOM RACES? LANGEBAAN, SOUTH AFRICA, ONCE AGAIN KICKED OFF THE RACING SEASON IN STYLE. WITH 13 SLALOM RACES HELD THROUGHOUT THE WEEK AND THE FAMOUS 'DOWNWIND DASH' OVER THE WEEKEND, THE EVENT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS.
Dani Aeberli, Duotone product manager, and team rider Sarah Jackson couldn’t resist joining the Langebaan Windsurf Cup once again and are here to share more about the event. Plus, a big shout-out to Wind2speed for the amazing pictures!

Dani Aerberli:
The Langebaan Cup once again delivered – with wind every day and an unbeatable atmosphere. Hopping on the slalom gear was just plug and play with the Falcon and Warp_Fin, making this event an absolute blast! Winning all 13 slalom races throughout the week was an incredible achievement, but what truly made it special was sharing the stoke and good times with fellow windsurfers out on the racecourse.
The weekend’s Downwind Dash didn’t go quite as planned after sailing the wrong course, but it was fantastic to see local rider Shayne Krige claim the crown. He impressed everyone while also riding the latest 2025 Duotone race gear.
Already looking forward to next year’s edition and hoping even more people will join us for the experience!
Sarah Jackson:
Cup Week is always a highlight of my year, and even though I’m not racing on the tour anymore, I still mark this week in my calendar every year to come down and join in the fun! When I thought I wasn’t going to be able to compete this year after hurting my ankles in December I was so upset and super motivated to nail the rehab and be back on the board in time!
From the stunning location of Langebaan lagoon with the crystal blue waters, the camaraderie and banter both on and off the beach and of course the epic racing! There’s a really cool group of slalom riders over here and everyone is pushing their max from the front to the back of the fleet - there’s battles all the way through whether it’s Dani and the best of the locals out at the front, the mid pack (where I sit) where one small mistake can see you go from 4th to 14th and the guys who are just getting into racing, blasting around on freeride gear and having a good time! As long as you can blast back and forth over the bay you can join in.
For me the highlight is the battles with the boys - we have a joke over here that no one wants to be “chicked” and so everyone is pushing all the way to the line trying to overtake me whilst I am also chasing the guys in front until the very end. This is always followed by some banter on the beach where I might have overtaken someone on the jibe or been rolled by one of them on the reaches - it’s the perfect mix of good racing and good fun that makes this event so unique.
Then you’ve also got the evening activities where we book out one of the local restaurants and everyone joins for some food and drinks to debrief the day and hang out together. It’s an incredibly well organised event both on and off the water and a huge thanks to Simon and Johnny for all their hard work and also lending me the gear to join in!
