I started windsurfing on a small lake when I was 18. I got my first sail as a graduation present from my uncle. It was simple then - if it was blowing 10, I rigged 7.0, and if it was blowing 30, I’d rig that same 7.0. From my first spock to my first shaka, I couldn’t get enough freestyle. Along the way, I got a degree in Chemical Engineering and started working in central Connecticut, which isn’t very close to the ocean, so I spent a lot of time driving. I spent summers sailing on Cape Cod and the rest of the year sailing all over RI and CT. After almost 10 years of driving, I left my job as an engineer and moved to the beach in Rhode Island as my passion transitioned from freestyle to wave sailing. I wasn’t exactly sure how things would fall into place at the time, but I ended up teaching myself software engineering and got a job as a developer which allowed me to officially call the beach my home. Outside of windsurfing - if there is such a thing - I have a smart and beautiful wife to whom I am grateful for many things but specifically for giving me the support to leave my job and follow a dream.
