THE HIGHLY SPORTY, COMPETITIVE SLALOM SAIL WITH UNBELIEVABLE FORWARD PULL - THE S_PACE CRAVES FOR SPEED AND YET IS EASY TO HANDLE. IT CARRIES THE RACING GENES OF THE WARP FOR UNRESTRICTED POWER DELIVERY, BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE HANDLING IS EXTRAORDINARILY SIMPLE FOR THIS CLASS.
The base is the revolutionary 3 IN 1 DESIGN that Kai has developed over a period of 3 years, which allows an unprecedented trim range. Together with the three brand-new HYPER CAM 2.0, a tremendously wide range of use is the result: Adjusting the S_PACE trim for low- or high end conditions fundamentally changes the sail, which makes it possible to achieve maximum performance across all wind conditions! The new S_PACE featuring the 3 IN 1 DESIGN is the perfect symbiosis of our most successful race slalom and freeride sails: whether V-Max, maximum acceleration or used as a sporty foil engine, the S_PACE is the most versatile cam sail on the market. With this sail designer Kai Hopf combines the top performance of the WARP with a very balanced sailing behaviour and a much wider range of use. This is achieved through a greatly reduced and almost straight luff curve in the upper area. This causes changes in the luffing tension to have a very large effect on the leech. Low downhaul tension results in a very tight leech, high tension leads to a very pronounced loose leech. The two extremely far apart positioned MIN and MAX trim points are proof of testament that the 3 IN 1 DESIGN covers an incredibly wide wind range. On top the S_PACE shows a completely different high- or low end performance and sail character depending on the trim. On MIN setting with tight leech, it’s supper effective to pump, accelerates very efficiently and feels incredibly light - ideal also for foiling. On MAX trim, however, the S_PACE feels very similar to the WARP, constantly getting faster without limits. Three new, length-adjustable HYPER CAMS 2.0 ensure unique draft- and profile stability yet smooth rotation. Particularly noticeable is the highly tapered luff sleeve in the AERO SLEEVE DESIGN 2.0. Its width in the aerodynamically important boom area enables the optimal transition from the “thick” mast leading edge to the “thin” sail body. However, at the top of the sail the luff sleeve has remained relatively narrow to enable fast water starts. This is supported by the LUFF LIFT DESIGN of the WARP 20.20, which provides additional lift. Simply awesome: When used for foiling the S_PACE features a special clew eyelet to be able to position the sail even more upright!
ATTENTION: since the mast geometry and length (= stiffness) depend on the sail design, size and luff curve the sails will NOT work with any masts outside the recommendations!

Hello Duotone Team, I have a 5.4 S-Pace 2023 sail that I use for foiling. I was wondering what the best approach is when encountering overpowering conditions, while foiling. In such cases, should I leave the outhaul in the lower eyelet position (as recommended for foiling) and tighten the boom to the maximum, or would it be better to move it to the upper position and also pull it tight to the max? I want to make sure I'm optimizing the sail setup for control and comfort during strong winds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help! Best regards,
ReplyHey damir! Welcome to the thread. I would always recommend to use the lower eyelet to gain a bit ob control. You can try aswell to reduce the downhaul s bit so the draft stays a bit longer in the front and is not moving immediately to the back and creates a lot of backhand pressure. Let me know if you need any further help. Marco
ReplyHi, I got an S-pack 7,3. Mast 476. I says 460 mast, but I have a 430 SDM duotone mast and a 48 mastbase. I rigged it, and it looks OK. Would there be any problem/risk in doing this. I understand it will make the mast feel a bit softer, I can live with that. I guess RDM mast are not an option at all , right ?
ReplyHi Bøje, Welcome to the thread. Well to be honest I cannot recommend this at all. Please keep in mind the S_Pace is our "second highest performing" sail behind the Warp. And having the right mast for your sail is utmost essential for the performance of your sail. Means with the wrong mast you loose 30% of the parfomance (please see above under KNOWLEDGE BASE SAILS > THE MAST - THE MOST UNDERESTIMATED PART OF YOUR RIG > WHY IS THIS "BULKY POLE" SO IMPORTANT). I would even go as far as saying if you can't or don't want to invest into the correct mast you should maybe even reconsidering buying the sail as well. I know this is not the reply you were looking for. But we prefer to give our customers an honest reply rather than a "it's gonna be wonderful" reply just to generate a fast sales success.
ReplyHi Raoul,Want to add another S_pace to my quiver. Currently have: 7,8 S_pace and a range of E_paces: 7,3; 6,2; 5,4; 4,6. I barely use the E_pace 7,3 these days, because I love the S_pace and jump straight to 6,2 when the wind pics up.The question is: from 7,8 should I go for 6,6 or straight for 6?ThanksJulius
ReplyHi Julius,I have this exact combo 7,8-6,6 since 7years and I love the complementarity of it. When the 7,8 is too much the 6,6 can take over. For my 80kg and 70cm/112l board, there is an overlap around 20kts. Either it is the 7,8 overpowered…heavy in the arms….or the 6,6 light wind…still powering up and usually a little faster. Same mast, different extension.same boom. Slightly different harness line balance and mast foot position (1cm). Depending what you are after, I think it is a good combo. I live with it since a while in any case, and will continue.Good luck for your choice! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
ReplyHi, I’ve got a 2022 S-Pace 6.0 with 430 mast and now want to buy a 5.4 S-Pace for high wind days. For this sail a 400 mast is recommended. Is there a way to only have one mast compatible for both sails? Or does it compromise the performance too much? I’m using a 42cm PowerXT extension. FYI : with my level I won’t be getting the last 10-15% performance. Also, I see the red/white combo isn’t available in this size is this a temporary thing or just isn’t made in that color scheme? Thanks in advance. Regards, Willem
ReplyHi Willem,Welcome to the thread. The S_Pace is our second most performance oriented fin sail (after the Warp_Fin). This requires the correct mast. Therefore unfortunately there is no alternative to the Platinum SLS SDM400 for the 5.4.I‘m pretty sure this is not the answer you were looking for. But rather than just telling you „yeah it’s gonna be wonderful“ to get you buying the 5.4 sail we always try to be as honest as possible with our customers. And having the right mast for the sail decides if it feels and performs great or if you always have the feeling as if there is „something wrong“ with your sail. As for the white color combination at the moment it‘s not available in certain sizes since our production has run out of the white monofilm. And lead times nowadays are pretty long…
ReplyHi, I have just bought the S type SL 2019 8,8sqm, I have a Gaastra c90 490 mast with CC and IMCS 29, would that fit? Or do I need to buy a new mast? If so, does the sail require a CC mast or a constant FL Curve? Thank you and best, Martin
ReplyHi Martin,Welcome to the thread. We have covered this question further up on this page under KNOWLEDGE BASE SAILS - BRAND COMPATIBILITY - SAIL-MAST BRAND COMPATIBILITY. Please let me know in case you require any further assistance.
ReplyHi,I just purchased a 2022 S Pace 7.3 and when used first the camber don't rotate voluntarily when being on the water. Is there trimming I could do (batten tension or camber adjustment) to make the cams rotate more easily? On the beach the cams would rotate when pushing them down...I rigged it on a MauiSails SRS 100% carbon most with 460cm length that I had laying around...is that the most likely reason? If possible I would love to avoid buying another 460cm Mast...
ReplyHi Andy,Welcome to the thread.Unfortunately as stated above under KNOWLEDGE BASE - BRAND COMPATIBILITY - SAIL-MAST BRAND COMPATIBILITY the MauiSails masts are not compatible with our sails. As mentioned in the rigging instructions you might be able to improve the cam rotation by reducing the tension of the 2 lowest cams. With the rotation check described in the rigging instructions you can even check on the beach how the rotation improves when changing the cam tension. We also did a video of the rotation check: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
ReplyWhy did you skip the S-pace 9.3, was it not working out well enough ? (I have a 8.3, and are looking for the next bigger size)
ReplyHi Bøje,Thanks for double-checking. Well straight forward with the Wing and Windsurf Foil trend the demand on big cam sails has drastically dropped. So much so that with the 9.3 we couldn’t meet the MOQ of our factory anymore. Therefore unfortunately we had to cancel this size from the range.
Reply@boje MOQ=minimum order quantity, smallest quantity to make a production batch of something worth the effort with competitive pricing. 😉🙏🏼
ReplyThank you, but what a pity.My friend have one in 9,3, and it is so much easier to handle, than my 4 cam race sail, in the same size. No old stock, that you are aware of, at your dealers ?
ReplyS-pace is daaa shit. Soooo good i have 6.0-8.8 And i looove it. Some sayes that freerace note is fast buth i have a tope on my 6.0 at 41 knots.
ReplyHi Peter,Thank you so much for the great feedback. Actually Jordy, Marco, Dani and me had exactly the same impression last year during a test tip at Lake Garda. We were fully motivated to update the S_Pace. But after a test against the latest freerace sails from the major brands every single one of us was (still) in favor of the S_Pace. But it’s one thing to be convinced by yourself. But hearing it from our customers that is what really counts. So thank you again.
