Duotone’s Next-Gen Champions

In the Kite-Surf U19 Women’s division, Aya Kasabova (BUL) confirmed her rising star status with a dominant performance that earned her the world title. Already making waves on the senior tour, Aya’s win in Tarifa underlined her potential to shape the future of the sport.

The Kite-Surf U14 Men’s division showcased the depth of Duotone’s youth team. Tommaso Lazzari (ITA) stormed to the top of the podium with fluid wave riding and sharp execution, while Henry Gerhardt (AUS) claimed second after an unforgettable final. When conditions forced a kite change, Henry’s mother jumped into the water to help switch equipment. Despite a series of crashes, Henry showed incredible perseverance, fighting his way back and securing the runner-up spot.

In the Kite-Surf U16 Women’s, Charlotte Losserand (SUI) added another podium to the Young Bloods’ tally, claiming third place with style and consistency.

Freestyle Battles

The Freestyle divisions were stacked with talent and intensity from start to finish. In the U19 Men’s category, Benedek Szente (HUN) delivered a breakthrough performance, taking the world title, while teammate Finn Flügel (GER) secured second with his trademark power and precision against a highly skilled international field. The U19 Women’s final brought more Duotone success, with Aya Kasabova (BUL) adding to her Kite-Surf title by securing second place and the Vice World Champion title, while Charlotte Losserand (SUI) battled her way into a strong fourth place.

In the U16 Men’s Freestyle, Duotone riders packed the top spots: Léo Schlichter (FRA) claimed second, Pierfrancesco Rizzello (ITA) held strong for third, and Ben Gerhardt (AUS) impressed with fourth.

The U14 Men’s Freestyle title went to Gonzalo Capela (ESP), who delivered outstanding tricks all week. He advanced through the semis with the highest-scoring move of the division — a Hinterberger Frontside 3 worth 8 points — and carried that momentum all the way to the top of the podium.

Beyond the Podium

For the athletes, the GKA Youth World Championships were about more than just medals. Riders took part in seminars and workshops designed to broaden their horizons both on and off the water. Local marine wildlife veterinary expert Seashore Fauna led an environmental session where the youngsters learned about whales and other marine life, while legends Liam Whaley, Mikaili Sol, and Matchu Lopes shared their career knowledge, answered questions, and offered insight into life as professional athletes.
