Reno, tell us about your experiences with the new Rebel SLS and Rebel SLS Concept Blue. How do they compare to the previous model?
The new Rebel SLS really takes things to the next level. The biggest improvement I noticed is in the hang time. The previous models were already great for jumping, with excellent lift, but now it’s like the hang time has been supercharged. That feeling of being suspended in the air is just incredible.
Can you tell us about the Rebel SLS Concept Blue and the environmental innovations in its design?
The Rebel SLS Concept Blue is all about reducing environmental impact without compromising performance or durability. It features undyed fabrics throughout, creating a cleaner look. The kite also includes a bio-based bladder system and uses recycled plastic composites on smaller parts, like the strut air locks and valve closure. These changes and material choices have been extensively tested in the Duotone Lab and at the beach to ensure that the kite is just as durable and high-performing as the Rebel SLS. So you get the same exceptional hang time, stability, big air potential and build quality, but with a more eco-conscious build. It's great to see that Duotone is innovating not only for performance but also with smart, sustainable options in mind.

How did the Rebel SLS handle gusty or varying wind conditions during your sessions?
It’s amazing in strong and gusty winds. The Rebel SLS is super stable and reacts instantly to bar feedback, making it very precise. That’s exactly what you need in a big air kite. Whether the wind is steady or all over the place, the kite holds its own, keeping you in control and confident.
What was your experience with the kite's hang time and lift?
The hang time is where this kite truly shines. It still has that Rebel DNA—the huge sheet-and-go wind range, the lift, and the ease of getting airborne. But with this model, you feel like you’re up there forever. It’s so easy to sheet in and get lifted off the water. For anyone looking to maximize their air time, you’re going to love this kite.
How would you describe the bar feel and responsiveness?
It has the most bar feedback in the range. It’s a five-strut kite, so it’s extremely stable, and you really feel connected to the kite at all times. For riders who like to know exactly where their kite is without having to look, this is perfect. It’s intuitive, and the responsiveness adds to that feeling of control, especially when you’re going big.
How did the Rebel SLS perform when aiming for big air or high jumps?
This kite is built for big air. It’s easy to jump high and perform tricks, even if your technique isn’t perfect. Just pull in the bar, and you’re off the water, shooting up into the sky. The hang time is incredible, giving you plenty of time to think about your next move or just enjoy the view from up high. If big air is your thing, this is the kite for you.

What were your impressions of the kite's stability and structural integrity in strong winds?
The Rebel SLS is rock solid, even in strong winds. The five-strut design gives it a structural integrity that’s crucial when you’re overpowered or when the wind picks up unexpectedly. It holds its shape really well, which is especially important for heavier riders. It’s reassuring to know that the kite will stay responsive and stable no matter what the conditions are.
How do you think the Rebel SLS fits into different riding styles and levels of experience? Who would be best suited to the Rebel SLS, in your opinion?
The Rebel SLS and Rebel SLS Concept Blue fit every level of rider, from beginners to pros. The huge sheet-and-go range makes them ideal for learners who want that immediate power boost by simply pulling in the bar. They’re also super easy to relaunch, which is great for every level of rider. For more advanced riders, especially those into big air and extreme riding, they deliver exactly what you need—massive jumps, long hang time, and precise control. Heavier riders will appreciate how well they hold their form and provide feedback through the bar. If you’re focused on big air and hang time, these kites are the perfect choice.
