Jerome Cloetens AEON

AEON

Jerome Cloetens joined Duotone when he was 13 years old. Jaime Herraiz - a legend in the wind sports and Duotone ambassador - supported him to join the international Kite Team at age 16. From the age of 16 Jerome combined his studies with competing in the world tour in kiting until the age of 24.

Then he started his own company called Palau with a mission to make sustainability more transparent and accesible. One year later Jerome started competing in Wing Foiling and has been obsessed with the sport ever since: -)

»Sometimes the best plan is not to have one at all. Get out on the water, enjoy yourself including all wipeouts and don´t take yourself too seriously!«

At the beginning of the year, the Lagoon Energy team in Dakhla extended an invitation to Jerome Cloetens to visit them. Initially, it seemed impossible due to his tight work schedule, but after checking the forecast, he changed his mind, and everything miraculously fell into place.

Jerome decided to take this trip to share a different aspect of his story, one that goes beyond the usual watersport narrative. He was accompanied by Antonio Herrera Trujillo, a highly talented filmer and editor from Tarifa. Their goal was simple: to go with the flow, enjoy the experience, and create a unique video about Jerome´s story.

For 10 days, they filmed, trained and worked together on that project. Staying at Lagoon Energy made it easy, especially the incredible food this hotel supplies. Another highlight for sure is the consistently perfect wind – perfect for Wing Foiling.

This video aims to inspire both the younger generation balancing school and sports, and the older generation managing full-time jobs while still pursuing their passions. Jerome's experience shows that it's possible to succeed as long as you're enjoying yourself - that's the key and what it´s all about.

Although Jerome´s tricks and innovations in this video may seem a bit outdated due to the rapid evolution of the sport, his style is still outstanding and it's exhilarating to be part of his journey.

Jerome is thrilled to have contributed by adding the Palaus and Backmobes. It's amazing to see how these tricks have progressed since they filmed this video in March having lately watched the GWA Freestyle World Cup on Fuerteventura. However, Jerome is still passionate and excited to discover and master new moves as the sport continues to evolve.
