The GWA Wingfoil World Cup Fuerteventura took place with the two disciplines Surf-Freestyle and FreeFly-Slalom competitions at the fifth tour stop of the year at Playa Sotavento!

And our team finished with three podiums: Nia Suardiaz seems unbeatable and once more took stage with two 1st places in both disciplines!

 Jerome Cloetens was the surprise sensation of the two days of Surf-Freestyle action. He edged it over reigning Surf-Freestyle world champion, Malo Guénolé in an epic final to take the second podium place and split the teenage young guns!

Nia Suardiaz appeared utterly unstoppable during all races. By the end of race 12, she had led every contest from start to finish and showed no signs of letting up in her pursuit of a perfect score.

Nia closed out with a convincing win to cement her place on top of the leaderboard, with Flo Artzner and Orane Ceris taking the second and third.

Nia: “I’m super-happy, I’ve won 13 elimination rounds out 15. So yes, I’m just super-grateful to be here.”

GWA Wing Foil World Fuerteventura 2023/Women’s Surf-Freestyle

Nia once morewas totally dominant to secure the win in the four-way women’s final. She put some good numbers on the board, like 6.0 for Frontside 3. She kept her composure and earned 7.07 for a Combo and got her first Back Flip in competition for an 8.03  that was enough to give her the victory.

Nia: “I‘m extremely happy to have won the 5th GWA Wingfoil World Cup Fuerteventura. My heat went really good and I landed all my tricks that I wanted to land and I’m extremely happy and thankful for my sponsors and my family being here.”

GWA Wing Foil World Fuerteventura 2023/Men´s Surf-Freestyle

Jerome Cloetens was rocking the show taking his first podium!

Jerome: “The heat was getting tighter and tighter because Luca Vuillermet was ripping. When he threw that 900 I thought I really need to stay focused. It was the most fun heat of the whole event. I felt so comfortable out there. I was just in a state of flow. I landed almost every trick, so I just really enjoyed that.”

Jermome Cloetens
