UNIT D/LAB 23 - LAUNCH

The wing that needs no introduction, the Unit D/LAB is the pinnacle of wing design and the benchmark in performance. For 2023 the Aluula leading edge and strut combine with our new MOD3 canopy and the result is mind blowing! The MOD3 Canopy channels the energy from the Aluula material into pure acceleration and sheer grunt!

The 2023 Unit enters us into a new era of wing design. Featuring MOD3, a new wing specific canopy, that changes everything! From the first pump, you’ll notice the additional power MOD3 brings to the wing. The higher modulus MOD3 fabric holds the shape of the wing with double the strength in warp direction and 3 times* the stretch resistance in bias direction compared to traditional canopies.

PAULA NOVOTNA - FREESTYLE WORLD CHAMPION

OCTOBER

We are beyond stoke to announce the first World Title at the GWA Wing Foil World Tour for Paula Novotna. At the penultimate event in Tarifa our Czech team rider secured the Freestyle World Champion Title in a final against season-long rival, the 15-year-old Nia Suardiaz. With three out of four wins Paula has such a lead already before the fifth and last stop in Brazil in November that she is uncatchable. Read more about:

KEN WINNER - THE TOYMAKER

SEPTEMBER

Who is Ken Winner? Who is the toymaker? Sky Solbach, Kai Lenny and the Spencer Boys talk about Ken Winner and how he has influenced and changed water sports with his innovations. Ken deserves the credit for inventing the first inflatable wing and laying the missing foundation for this great sport. Without Ken, Wing Foiling would not be the sport we know and love today. See at the story of how it all began. Thank you Ken!

YOUNG BLOOD GOES WING FOILING

AUGUST

Wing Foiling offers one of the easiest and most appealing entries to wind sports, especially for young rippers. So, it’s a logical step to bring our successful young blood concept into the realms of wing foiling. From August 12th to 14th two of our four amazing 2022 Young Blood Camps took place in the North of Germany and Italy! After this awesome weekend it is safe to say the future of our fascinating young sport is absolutely tearing it up!

FREESTYLE TEAM SESSION

The third tour stop of the GWA World Cup, with Surf-Freestyle as the focus was held on Lanzarote. The Duotone X Fanatic Wing Foil Team took the chance for a freestyle session together at Costa Teguise. Cameraman Mintautas Grigas caught up with Wesley Brito, Stefan Spiessberger, Paula Novotna, Jerome Cloetens, Nia Suardiaz, Linus Pünder and Tom Auber, sharing some time out from their contest life.

CLEAN BEACH DAYS 2022

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Clean Beach Days 2022 and contributed to #saveourplaygrounds. With your help a total number of nearly 13.000 pieces of trash could be removed from beaches worldwide. For the third time since the start of our initiative, we called on you to help us clean beaches, lakesides, river shores, mountain trails and forests in a joint effort to save our playgrounds.

"THE LAND OF LEFTS"

There is one thing that catches the surfer’s attention when it comes to Chile and what it stands for: “the land of lefts” The plan was to take some of our best Duotone and Fanatic team riders and find spots that not many people have been riding on a foil yet. It was in March, when Clement Roseyro, Paula Novotna, Klaas Voget and Stefan Spiessberger took off to Chile to rip spots like Matanzas. The result is a “MUST SEE” travel episode about this versatile crew’s challenges and times of joy.

The Unit D/LAB has arrived and sets a new benchmark of wing design. With over 15% in weight savings and 50% higher stiffness when compared to the original Dacron version. The Unit D/LAB is the first high-end wing to come out of the Duotone laboratory and the performance has been significantly improved.
