Nia Suardiaz is the GWA Surf-Freestyle & FreeFly-Slalom World Champion 2023
Well done!
Nia Suardiaz’s performance has been so strong this year that she failed to win only once in the five GWA events featuring both Surf-Freestyle and FreeFly-Slalom disciplines, and closed out world titles with a handful of competitions remaining on the calendar!
Well done Nia - we are super proud to have you in our team!
Only 16 year old Nia Suardiaz took her 5th win in the GWA Surf-Freestyle discipline and claimed her first Surf-Freestyle World Championship title with a victory at the GWA Wingfoil World Cup Denmark, fought out amid the stunning backdrop of Hvide Sande’s dunes.
Nia: "It feels amazing to become world champion in Surf-Freestyle here. This was my goal since last year. I didn’t get it last year. I was second. I have been training a lot and my focus was way more on getting first. I was a bit nervous before the final, because I knew I’d be world champion if I won. So, I’m super-stoked.”
Also well done to Maria Behrens who finished 6th in Surf-Freestyle and 5th FreeFly-Slalom!
In the Mens Surf-Freestyle Stefan Spiessberger had a very good run and made the most of those very challenging conditions by finishing in a well deserved 5th. Also well done to Benjamin May in 9th and 6th in FreeFly-Slalom!
