Sky, let's start by discussing the development journey of the Rebel SLS kite. Could you walk us through its evolution?

Sky Solbach: Absolutely. The Rebel kite series has been a staple since 2007 when Ken Winner and I began shaping it. Each year, we’ve refined its design. The 2023 model incorporated many elements from the 2020 version due to its strong performance. For the 2025 model, we have pushed the boundaries further, integrating new technologies and feedback to enhance its capabilities.

What significant changes and feedback influenced the 2025 model?

Sky Solbach: We focused on maintaining the exceptional handling that our riders loved in previous models while enhancing the hang time, which had been a highlight in earlier versions. By adjusting the kite’s arc and optimizing the wingtip angles, we've managed to achieve an excellent balance of lift and control, which greatly improves the hang time.

How did these technical changes translate into performance?

Sky Solbach: By reintroducing a lift-oriented profile shape, we’ve significantly enhanced the kite's hang time. The kite maintains a solid, locked-in feeling even in gusty conditions, which is crucial for achieving sustained high jumps. Additionally, the improvements in the direct bar feel ensure that the kite offers immediate feedback and greater control.

Can you describe the testing process and the role of team feedback in the development of the kite?

Sky Solbach: The testing phase is absolutely crucial. We've conducted several testing camps in locations like the Canaries and Tarifa with our R&D team and team riders, including Reno Romeu. Their feedback is critical as they can pinpoint how the kite performs under various conditions, allowing for rapid and precise improvements.

Where does the Rebel SLS fit within the product range, and who would benefit most from this model?

Sky Solbach: The Rebel SLS is designed for big air enthusiasts. It excels in strong, gusty winds and is ideal for riders who aim for high jumps with extended hang time. It’s accessible enough for newer riders, yet performs at a level that satisfies the demands of experienced kitesurfers. For those into freestyle, the smaller sizes are perfect for tight loops.

And what about the feel on the bar? How does that impact the experience for different types of riders?

Sky Solbach: The Rebel SLS offers a consistent and intuitive bar feel. This feature is particularly beneficial for professional riders who need to perform complex maneuvers. The precise feedback allows them to execute tricks and focus on their landings without having to keep an eye on the kite constantly.

Finally, for heavier riders or those new to kitesurfing, how does the Rebel SLS stand out?

Sky Solbach: Its five-strut design provides exceptional structural stability, which is crucial for heavier riders or those who frequently kite in strong winds. This ensures the kite maintains its shape and responsiveness, even under heavy loads or in overpowering conditions, making the Rebel SLS a versatile choice for a broad range of kitesurfers.

Sky, thank you for sharing these insights. It sounds like the Rebel SLS continues to push the boundaries of kite performance.

Sky Solbach: Thank you. We’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished with the Rebel SLS and excited to see it elevate the riding experience for kitesurfers around the world.
