2024: RIDING HIGH ON AN EPIC YEAR!

ANDREA PRINCIPI, BACK-TO-BACK KING OF THE AIR

The King of the Air, the pinnacle of big-air kiteboarding, once again delivered an unforgettable spectacle in 2024. After a week of anticipation, Cape Town’s infamous 'Cape Doctor' made a dramatic last-minute appearance, setting the stage for a historic finale. With winds blasting at 40 knots and swells reaching up to 3 meters, reigning champion Andrea Principi dominated. In front of a buzzing crowd of over 7,000 spectators, his flawless, jaw-dropping display of precision, power, creativity and courage secured him the crown for the second year running.This year also saw a major milestone with the debut of the Women’s Division. Pippa Van Iersel delivered an impressive performance, earning 3rd place and leaving a lasting mark on this exciting new chapter of the sport.

THE REBEL D/LAB, A SUCCESS STORY

Since its inception, the Rebel has been the ultimate freeride and big-air kite. After rigorous development and testing, this iconic kite’s legacy reached a whole new level with the launch of the first-ever Rebel D/LAB earlier this year. Designed as the ultimate kite for big-air enthusiasts, the Rebel D/LAB delivers exceptional hang time and lift. Our designers worked meticulously to push its performance to an unmatched level in big-air kite design — and they succeeded. 

The results speak for themselves: riding the brand-new Rebel D/LAB, Double Big Air World Champion and Megaloop Challenge winner Andrea Principi claimed his second consecutive KOTA title, cementing his dominance in the sport and proving the Rebel D/LAB’s unrivalled performance.

EXPANSION OF OUR CONCEPT BLUE RANGE

The launch of our Concept Blue initiative in 2023 marked a major step forward in our commitment to environmental responsibility within the water sports industry. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and remain dedicated to pushing these efforts further. For 2025, we’ve expanded the Concept Blue range with several new models, including the Rebel SLS Concept Blue as well as the most legendary freestyle board of all times now in our eco-friendly construction, the Jaime SLS Concept Blue.

BIGGEST YOUNG BLOOD CAMP TO DATE!

Since their launch, the Duotone-Porsche Young Blood Camps have been instrumental in shaping the next generation of global kitesurfing talent. This year’s camp, held at pro rider Edgar Ulrich’s TAO Village in sunny Hyères, France, was the biggest yet. Ten of the sport’s brightest rising stars came together for an epic week of intense training, personal growth, and plenty of fun.

The jam-packed program covered everything needed to build a successful pro kiteboarding career and beyond. With a team of three videographers, a drone pilot, pro riders Liam Whaley and Rita Arnaus, and expert coaches and specialists focusing on performance, mindset, injury prevention, and more, the Duotone-Porsche crew equipped these young athletes with the tools to become future icons of the sport. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!

RITA ARNAUS IS GKA FREESTYLE VICE WORLD CHAMPION

A severe knee injury in 2022 put Rita Arnaus’s competitive career on hold, leading her down a long and challenging road to recovery. But 2024 marked her triumphant return—a year defined by pushing boundaries, overcoming obstacles, building mental resilience, and competing smarter and stronger than ever. And she delivered. Reclaiming her Vice World Championship title from 2021 at the GKA Freestyle-Kite World Cup Finals at Fuwairit Kite Beach in Qatar—the very spot where her injury occurred two years prior—was a powerful testament to Rita’s unwavering determination and relentless drive. Her comeback not only solidified her place among the sport’s elite but proved, without question, that she’s back for good.

COMEBACK KING: JAMES CAREW

James Carew, the fearless Aussie gladiator, delivered one of the most electrifying comebacks in kiteboarding history. After an 18-month injury break, he returned with legendary, next-level performances, claiming back-to-back victories in his first two events of 2024 and ultimately achieving the extraordinary: winning the Big Air World title and Vice World Champion title in Strapless Freestyle.

A severe injury can make or break an athlete; for James, it became the driving force that pushed him to achieve the impossible. Overcoming the challenges of recovery, he emerged stronger, smarter, and more determined than ever, redefining his career with this remarkable comeback. We can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for him!

MIKAILI SOL: IN A LEAGUE OF HER OWN

Our Brazilian Superwoman, 7x World Champion Mikaili Sol, made a commanding comeback at the Copa Kitley GKA Big Air Kite World Cup in Jericoacoara, Brazil. After taking a year off from competition, she returned with laser focus, dominating her heats and battling fiercely into the final. There, she delivered a performance for the history books, landing two never-before-seen tricks in women’s kiteboarding—a massive 9.8 and a perfect 10 for an incredible Kite-loop Front-roll Board-off—that sealed her victory in spectacular style.

True to her trailblazing reputation, Mika continues to push the boundaries of kiteboarding with unmatched skill, innovation, and a legacy that inspires generations to come. Her triumphant return wasn’t just a victory—it was a promise of even greater things ahead.

AWSI BRAND OF THE YEAR 2024

The annual AWSI (Association of Wind & Water Sports Industries) event in Hood River, Oregon, is a key gathering for the best in the wind and water sports industry, showcasing the latest gear, technologies, and innovations. A highlight of the event, the AWSI Awards, celebrates brands and products that stand out in performance and innovation. This year, Duotone earned top honors, taking home the titles of Best Kite Brand and Best Wingfoiling Brand 2024. These prestigious awards reflect Duotone’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and performance, reinforcing our leadership in kiteboarding and wingfoiling.

In 2024, the opening of DPC Koksijde, Belgium was a standout moment. With an incredible launch event, exceptional youth development programs, and a vibrant community supported by top-tier infrastructure, it’s already making waves.

Our camps were another highlight, with Mika Sol at DPC Sicily and Matchu Lopes at DPC Boa Vista leading hugely successful sessions. More are already planned for 2025—stay tuned!

Meanwhile, DPC Mykonos is quickly evolving into the ultimate Big Air training hotspot, attracting riders from around the globe.
