Before the start of the event we knew Pierre Mortefon and Matteo Iachino are the ones to watch: whoever beats who, would win the World Title. And there is still an Albeau around. Who would have thought it will actually come down to the very last race of the year???
Pierre started the event with his very own wake up call - got disqualified in the very first race. That left him with no room for mistakes. He didn't. With only TOP 5 results counting (points: 0.7, 2.0, 3.0, 3.0, 5.0, 5.0, 5.0, 0.7, 4.0), Pierre wins over Iachino, who had to count two 9th and one 7th place. This means all the work and training finally paid off! Pierre -Mr.Third - Mortefon showed the world, he is well capable of making the big points and leading the pack of the BIG 3 (Mortefon, Iachino, Albeau). First World Title for Daddy Mortefon!
The womens title race wasn't less interesting. Marion Mortefon sailed the best event and season of her life, even making 3/3 bullets on one day (counting points: 2.0, 0.7, 0.7, 0.7, 0.7, 2.0, 4.0, 0.7, 3.0). She wins the event with a 6-point-difference to Dephine Cousin on second. With this fantastic result Marion is crowned PWA VICE WORLD CHAMPION 2019!
Elsewhere Jordy Vonk and Marco Lang fought their own battles. Jordy went for 4th (overall) against Quentel, and Marco wanted that TOP 10 finish. Mission accomplished!
