St Peter Ording is the biggest kiteboarding demo event this side of the Atlantic, as well as a stop on the GKA World Tour. With all the brands there to showcase their new range of gear, the beach was buzzing with enthusiastic kiteboarders of all ages and levels.

As the GKA Freestyle, Big Air and Strapless events came to a close, Kitesurf Masters from SPO, Gleiten.TV, decided to add another competition to the format: The Relauncher 2019, a battle to see how many times you could crash and relaunch your kite in 5 minutes.

The rules: release your kite, let it flag out, relaunch back to 12 o’clock and repeat.

Lasse Walker stepped up with the 12m Duotone Neo and was joined by riders from Flysurfer, Naish, Liquid Force, Core, Duotone, Ozone, F-One and Eleveight.

After 5 minutes, Lasse had completed over double release and relaunches then the others.

“This was a fun little competition and cool to see almost all of the brands take part. The Neo is super easy to relaunch as it’s lighter this year. It’s also super stable. Initially I tried the Mono, but the Neo was just more efficient and responsive. It’s a great kite. Although I usually ride the Dice for Big Air and mega looping, I use the Neo a lot in Cape Town when I’m waveriding and foiling.” - Lasse.
