The biggest achievements in your kiteboarding career
Your hobbies aside kiteboarding?
What do you do on a day without wind?
A typical day would be checking if there are waves to surf or SUP, and if not I would doing a 90 min home workout or some Pilates, tend to some “admin”, work on training strategies for the next competition by watching videos etc, go exploring (wherever I might be), check in with friends and family as I am travelling most months of the year, check what sport is on at the time and if it is football, tennis, surfing or rugby then I won’t be leaving the couch haha.
What style of music are you interested in?
Indie, Rap, Chill house, Latina and SOKKIE (Afrikaans dance music haha)
How and why did you start kiteboarding?
My dad has been doing all extreme water sports his whole life, so my brother and I were the lucky ones to be born into it. From a very young age we started surfing and the moment my dad started kitesurfing, we followed suit. So my dad taught me when I was 11 years old and ever since then I have had the greatest support and coaching from both my dad and brother, which has gotten me to the level and position I am in now.
Why are you riding for Duotone?
Ever since I started kitesurfing I was absolutely in love with the quality and development of this brand and the team behind it. It has been one of the only brands in which I have seen consistent growth and improvement each year. I rode for other brands before, but always had a “hidden crush” on this brand after having tried it a couple of times. I am so stoked to finally be a part of it and enjoy the progression first hand.
What is your main goal for the future?
To be the female wave world champion and to be an influencer for Duotone for as long as possible.
What training do you do to stay fit?
Due of travelling and not always having access to a gym, I have developed my own full body home workout routine combining calisthenics and cardio, from which I have experienced the best results. I also love including cycling, Pilates and a decent stretching routine for recovery.
What would have been your job if you wouldn´t be a pro kiteboarder?
A Michelin star chef ;)
What´s your favourite food?
Sushi, chicken coconut curry, ice cream and chocolate.
