With a forecast of strong Levante winds, the judging criteria were switched from freestyle to 100% big air. Our ladies showcased they were ready for whatever the wind had in store and put on an impressive performance in the nuking 50 plus knots of wind.

“This event was gnarly! We came for Freestyle, but ended up with 40-50 knots of Levante! I knew it was a possibility we might have to do a few Big Air tricks, but never thought it would be solely Big Air. Anyways I had to step my game up and threw my first ever proper Boogie Loop to make sure I did enough for the top spot!”

“I was super happy to compete again after such a long gap, it was great to see everyone! Looking at the forecast a couple of times a day on the lead up, we could see the strong Levante winds kicking in. Luckily, I had my 6,7 and 8 dices with me. I rode the 6 meter Dice in my heats with the small click bar, Jaime Textreme 133 and my Hadlow 140.

Switching from boots to straps was a hard decision, but I tried straps for the first time and in the final, it worked out. The most challenging thing was to overcome the gusty wind and land some tricks.

I was hoping to land my signature late bankroll kite loop, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to stick one cleanly in my heat. I’m hoping to get the opportunity in the next big air event to land this in a heat. The change in format from freestyle to big air suits me, I love to do both, in Holland I can ride both freestyle and big air so this format was great for me.

I was really stoked to have such great support from the Duotone team, with anything we need I know I can just go to the Wet Shop in town and they’re always there to help. Also, within the team, everyone is helping out, we have the biggest team at the events and it’s a big family! Of course, we are also competitors, but you really feel the love and support from your teammates!”

"I wasn’t planning to compete on the tour this year but sometimes the unexpected adventures are the best ones! I saw the forecast for the event and it looked like insane conditions, full Levante, 50 knots, I just couldn’t resist, so I got a last-minute entry!

It was awesome to be shredding with the Duotone girls and share the podium with them! Mika and Pippa were killing it, so it was awesome to ride with them and throw down some sick tricks.

It’s been great to enjoy the Tarifa vibes, it’s been a few years since I’ve been competing, at first I wasn’t sure if I should enter as I haven’t been in a competition format for a while, but I’m super stoked on how it turned out and I’m glad I entered! I was riding my 7 Dice and 8 Rebel in combo with a Jaime SLS during the heats to take care of the looping and big air action!”
