BAKL - Big Air Kite League Cape Town

History was made at the 5th and final stop of the 2021 Big Air Kite League (BAKL) in Cape Town, with the crowning of the first-ever BAKL Champion.

The Cape Doctor finally delivered and 33 of the best big air shredders were sending it like no tomorrow.

In the women's, Hannah Whitely (GB, Duotone) only decided super last minute to sign in to compete, even without special training. She succeeded in securing third place on the podium in this event, which is an absolutely amazing achievement. In the men’s, thevibeamongst spectators and riders alike went through the roof when Janek Grzegorzewski (POL), who was tipped as the favorite to win, got knocked out in the semi-finals.

The final was an intense battle. Neck and neck all throughout the heat, Evan Kiln (NL) Cohan van Dijk (NL) and Duotone’s young blood rider Lorenzo Casati (ITA) were on fire. Boosting 16m and throwing a flawless kite loop board-off with his smooth, signature back roll on the way down amongst other solidly landed maneuvers, ultimately secured Lorenzo the event crown.

In the Overall 2021 World Tour Ranking, we are super stoked with Lorenzo Casati (ITA, Duotone) taking out 2nd and Andrea Principi (ITA, Duotone) 3rd place. Congratulations boys!!

Congratulations also to Janek Grzegorzewski (PL) on the 2021 BAKL Champion Title

We’re excited for this year’s upcoming BAKL Tour and can’t wait to see the limits of big air kiteboarding being pushed into another stratosphere!
