PWA POZO: Pre-Game Chat

The 2019 PWA wave season starts with the GRAN CANARIA WIND AND WAVES FESTIVAL from July 12th until July 20th at the windy shore of Pozo Izquierdo - Mecca of steep ramps, insane jumping and 50 knots of wind. Our DUOTONE wave team riders have been training throughout the past few month to be able to lay down their craziest manoeuvers.

We caught up with Alessio, Gollito and Julia to have a quick PRE-GAME CHAT:

Victor Fernandez tells the PWA: “I have been in Pozo since June 9th. First week it was quite good conditions and after it has been quite relax and a few light wind days. This winter I have been on Maui quite some time testing sails for Duotone and enjoying Ho’okipa. After that I went to Chile for 3 weeks and we had very good conditions. Then home to organise the PWA Youth event with the Club Victor Fernández which was very fun and this time we ran a lot of slalom races. In February I went to Cape Verde with an amazing forecast and it was the best conditions I had this year. Then Maui again for the photoshoot. May Sardinia doing a project for Mercedes Benz. Now looking forward to the start of the season!”

Gollito Estredo:

"Este ano mi objetivo es estar en el top 10. Estoy por supuesto muy motivado. Pozo es una de las pruebas más importantes del ano con mucha acción. Tuve una lesion en mis pies y esto me dejo fuera del agua por muchas meses. Estoy super feliz que desde hace un par de semanas esta muy bueno el pie y he podido entrenar para este evento."

Alessio Stillrich:

"Es ist ein sehr besonderes Gefühl dieses Jahr nach meiner Verletzung wieder dabei zu sein! Ich werde ziemlich nervös aber auch motiviert sein und auf jeden Fall mein Bestes geben. Ich träume von einem TOP 10 Ergebnis, aber je höher desto besser. Die Windvorhersage sieht im Moment super aus. Ich hoffe auf gute Conditions!"

Julia Pasquale:

"Ya queda menos para el Wind & Waves Festival en Pozo Izquierdo - estoy deseando que empiece ya! Estos últimos días en Pozo se ha puesto muy bueno para practicar y entrenar a topeeee! Este ano tengo mas ganas que nunca ya que, además de competir en mí categoría cometiré en la categoría absoluta! Además en ese tiempo hay mucho ambiente en la carpa y en el mar, lleno de competidores motivados y dándolo todo!"
