Fantastic Fuerte

Fuerteventura always delivers and it was another amazing year of PWA World Cup for the team. Adrien Bosson won the Freestyle Single Elimination for a 2nd consecutive year, showing he really is one of the greatest athletes in this discipline, ultimately finishing 2nd to young ripper Lennart Neubauer after a super-final left them only 1.0 points apart.

SLALOM

In the Slalom-X, Jenna Gibson’s lightning speed was unmatched, but the obstacle became her nemesis. Still, her 4th place in Fuerteventura was enough to put her on the overall Slalom-X podium for 2024 in 3rd place, tied on points with 2nd. A huge congratulations to Jenna.

For Jordy Vonk, it was heart break. One tiny mistake on the final jibe of the final race saw him drop off the event and overall podium into 4th place in both. One of the hardest working riders we have ever met, we know how much this hurts but for sure he will come back stronger. Further after last years struggles on the foil, we are stoked to see Jordy back in the top 10 in foil slalom and with a truly consistent string of results.

ADRIEN BOSSON

“It feels super good, we had a great event with great conditions. I didn’t expect to be on the podium this event and somehow I managed to end up in 2nd place. I had good sailing with the other guys and good battles with Lennart in the three finals we made together. Its always a pleasure to share moments and windsurfing passion like that.”

“The first two days here the wind was super strong and I was sailing with my IDOL LTD 4.0 and 4.4 with the Skate 92. I really enjoy sailing in this place with this setup – it’s so perfect for freestyle. I had the right setup to perform the way I wanted and I’m pretty stoked about that.”

Talking about the season as a whole, Adrien said: “Basically I was like ok this year I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself as last year I was in the title race and now this year I found myself in the same position – last year I ended up 2nd place here so lets see. There is 2 months until Sylt and its going to be quite busy for me back home – I think I will go the same way as I did here – not so much stress hopefully and just having fun.”

JENNA GIBSON

I’m so glad to finally be on the overall podium – I’m so happy, I have no words.

My first PWA event was back in 2017, but since then it just seems to be injury after injury and then COVID and there always seems to be something blocking my path but to be slowly making progress is a step in a good direction and hopefully a sign of years to come.

I’m really looking forward to focusing on the foil for the rest of the season. Sylt is the next event in a couple of months so I’ll go back home now and train for that.

For Slalom-X this season, I have only used one setup in both Pozo and Fuerte – the 5.0 WARP_FIN and FALCON_FIN D/LAB 99. I have used this gear for every single race this season! On the foil, I’ve been using the 5.4 and 4.6 WARP_FOIL with the 169 FALCON_FOIL D/LAB. Everything has been working perfectly, I’m really happy with the gear. I haven’t spent too much time on the small foil gear before this event but I jumped on it and it worked great from the first moments.
