DEFI WIND DELIVERS

The 2026 edition of Defi Wind was a special one. After two years without racing, some wondered whether the event would return with the same energy as before. But as soon as the Tramontana appeared in the forecast, nobody wanted to miss out, and registrations quickly climbed to 1,400 competitors: all eager to take on the challenge.

Jenna Gibson dominates

As a Speed World Champion, Jenna Gibson is already known for her incredible top speed, but once again she managed to impress everyone with her performance.

Dominating the women’s fin category, she even finished 39th overall in the fin rankings, leaving plenty of fast men behind her. Switching between her 5.2 and 5.7 Warp_Fin, combined with the Falcon_Fin 98, she looked seriously fast throughout the event.

From IFCA World Champion in April to Defi Wind winner in May, Jenna’s season could hardly have started any better. Now all eyes are on Fuerteventura this summer to see if she can keep the momentum going.

Jordy left with higher hopes

Right from the opening race, he was flying on his 6.2 Warp_Fin and Falcon_Fin 98 combination, taking the win with an incredible 45-second lead ahead of the entire fleet, including all the foilers.

Unfortunately, disaster struck on the second day. While leading the race once again, Jordy got trapped in a massive wind hole, dropping nearly 100 positions in the process. To make matters worse, a heavy crash with another rider in race three ended any realistic hopes of fighting for the podium.

Still, Jordy bounced back in style on the final day, securing a 2nd and 3rd place finish in the last two races to climb back into the overall top five. Knowing he had the speed to win the event, the result only left him even hungrier for more.

»Arriving 3 out of 5 races first at the mark definitely gives me a lot of confidence for the rest of the season, now I will just have to stop thinking about "what if I didn't stop in the windhole'... as I think I had the potential to win the event! «

French Power

It was the very first Defi Wind appearance for Sacha Fortune — and what an edition to experience for a debut, with the legendary 40 km races running in full Tramontana conditions. Sacha finished 19th overall, but satisfaction did not seem to be part of the equation. Instead, the event became a huge learning experience, providing valuable lessons and motivation to come back even stronger next year.

Another team rider making her Defi Wind debut was Capucine Bordier. Finishing 4th in the U17 girls’ ranking while completing every single race, she delivered a very strong first performance with plenty of smiles along the way. She even returned home with a trophy: together with her father, Erwan Bordier, they secured 2nd place in the Family category.

Of course, Defi Wind is about far more than just racing. Duotone was present throughout the week with the latest 2026 gear on display, alongside sneak previews of some upcoming 2027 equipment. The booth stayed busy all event long, especially during the famous “Punch Night,” where riders lined up to get their Duotone fake tattoos before heading into another evening of parties, presentations, rider meet-ups, and good times together off the water.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and represented us on the water!
