Big Air Madness at Red Bull Megaloop
Andrea Principi takes 2nd at Red Bull Megaloop 2025
The Red Bull Megaloop is kiteboarding at its rawest — an event that only runs when storms over 30 knots slam the Dutch coastline. Yesterday, Noordwijk delivered the goods, with howling North Sea winds with gusts into the high 40s, setting the stage for the world’s most daring riders to send their biggest megaloops. Known for its wild storms and as the home of 2015 champion Lasse Walker, this spot once again proved the ultimate arena for gravity-defying big air.
A total of 22 riders — 16 men and, for the very first time, 6 women — went head-to-head in a new format where only the single highest-scoring jump counts. Judges weighed extremity (70%) — a mix of height, power, distance travelled, and kite angle — above all else, while also rewarding execution and flow (30%), considering the trick itself, rider style and landings.

A defining twist this year: men were limited to 18m lines, making the kite react faster and loops far more aggressive. The rule pushed athletes to commit harder than ever, executing moves in their rawest, most extreme form.
Duotone’s Andrea Principi — reigning King of the Air, two-time World Champion and 2023 Megaloop winner — once again showed why he’s at the top of the sport, soaring all the way into the final on his Rebel D/LAB, finishing 2nd with his trademark height, power, radicality and control.
History was made as the Women’s Division joined the Megaloop for the first time.
