Duotone NOW Magazine No.03 2022

At Duotone, we strive to build the most innovative equipment, to push the sport to the next level. Safety always plays a major role in any development. 2008 saw the release of the first Iron Heart, a revolutionary piece of kiteboarding safety technology. Today 14 years later we are around to introduce the new Iron Heart VI featuring a Click-in Quick Release: With just one click you can insert the chicken loop into the body for easy reassembling. Making this the most user- friendly Quick Release to date. Aron Mathes, Product developer at Duotone Kiteboarding shares some insights. IRON HEART VI CLICK-IN QUICK RELEASE Easily passing the industry ISO standards, the Duotone product design team developed additional safety protocols above and beyond the ISO standard to ensure the Iron Heart VI performs in a multitude of environments. The biggest challenge in development was finding the right materials that withstand our high requirements of testing. We really took the time to perfect and test the new Iron Heart, with our first prototype being built back in 2017. Back then Aurelien Mierswa, who was the driving force behind the very first Iron Heart, was already envisioning a simplified version of the Quick Release mechanism. The early prototype had a similar mode of action but was more complex in construction than we wanted. Simplifying the system and finding the best materials was the task for the development team.  Additionally, the Iron Heart VI will come with a visible control option to show you if it is assembled correctly. Besides an audible “click” there’s a green marking on the Pin Release which you can see through a small window on the handle. It only shows when the system is closed properly. If sand or Debris should get into the system, impeding a proper closing of the QR, the green marking will not be visible, thus showing the user at all times if the safety is loaded, a feature unique to Duotone. Releasing September 2022 the new Iron Heart VI Click-in Quick Release will be implemented into the Duotone Click Bar and Duotone Trust Bar. This is possible due to a completely new line setup for the Trust Bar.
