Duotone Magazine No. 06
Duotone Kite Academy App In addition to the six categories of Tricks Lessons, the Duotone Kite Academy app will be updated in Q4/2025 with an additional category: Big Air. The tricks will be demonstrated by Duotone big air specialists Liam Whaley and Edgar Ulrich. They will be broken down into different levels of difficulty, so that both big air beginners and experienced kiters can follow their progress. Tricks such as pops and jumps will form the basis, building up to more advanced tricks such as kite loop handle passes and tricks with higher jumps. Tricks are categorised according to their difficulty. Higher scores mean greater challenges. This ensures that learners are not overwhelmed, but are gradually introduced to more advanced tricks. The tutorials in the new Big Air chapter are structured so that they not only show the tricks themselves, but also provide comprehensive step-by-step instructions. Each trick is broken down into easy to understand steps. Visual aids support the technical features to optimise the learning process. In addition to the purely technical understanding of kiteboarding tricks, it is important that every rider recognises their individual limits. The correct angle of the kite, the timing of the jump and the position of the body during take-off and landing are crucial. For each trick, there is also an emphasis on prior knowledge and the correct spot andwind conditions. Weather conditions and the topography of the spot have a significant impact on the success of big air tricks. Safety awareness is paramount in big air. WOO 4.0 × WOO has been the sensor for measuring jumps in kiteboarding for ten years. × The latest generation WOO 4.0 has a more powerful processor, wireless charging and over 24 hours of battery life. × Just tap record and the WOO sensor automatically recognises whether you are on the water or in the air, calculating the height of each jump, the airtime and the jump curve. × The free WOO app for iOS and Android lets you pair the sensor and view community stats, leaderboards and exploration maps. × Wing foilers are now also using the WOO to measure their jumps.
