“Regardless of the discipline, what I personally find so fascinating is this efficiency and lightness without any resistance. You float over the water and don’t even feel it. Especially in the lower wind range up to 15 or 20 knots, I really enjoy it. When Kite Foiling, just whirring through mirror- smooth water is an incredible feeling. When Wing Foiling, flagging the wing and riding down a flat swell feels like snowboarding in deep snow, it’s not super spectacular, but incredibly smooth and fluid. The wonderful thing is that Foiling doesn’t replace any area of use, but is an enriching component in the lower wind range and in round waves.” Till Eberle, CEO Boards & More “Foiling opens up a whole new world. The feeling of ‘wow, I’m flying’ is something you’ve never felt before in any gliding sport. You fly over the water with minimal friction and very little propulsion. All you need is a small sail, a small kite, a small wing. You can reach high speeds with little effort – and have so much more fun with smaller equipment. Foiling is a lot of fun in any sport, even in relatively mediocre to boring conditions. In Wing Foiling, I experience this to a very extreme degree. I’m also a windsurfer who loves surfing waves. But to have anything close to a good day there, a lot of things have to come together. In Wing Foiling, on the other hand, a wave that only pushes a little and doesn’t break at all is enough to be able to make turns with pressure. Or when Surf Foiling, you paddle into a tiny little foam, get on the foil and have fun in conditions that you would never have thought possible. You go out on tides that are crazy, specifically looking for high tides and chop over the sandbank, because that can be ideal for foiling.” Klaas Voget, Division Manager Product & Marketing Wing Foiling F o i l m a n i a “I can only rave about it. Foiling is such a gain in water time – regardless of the discipline. You can enjoy the light wind days and completely new spots open up. When Windsurfing, you’re on the foil so much sooner instead of needing 15 knots to glide. When Kiteboarding in combination with a D/LAB kite , you are the only one on the water at seven knots. And when it comes to Wing Foiling, I’m amazed at howmany facets the sport already has. You can have fun at so many spots. Who would have thought that on Bavarian lakes, when the wind is blowing stronger, you can set the wing and pump along with the wave. This way you can get something completely different out of the waves on the lake than before. The foils are now so efficient that people are even foiling downwind in the short, steep lake waves. If the foil didn’t exist, we wouldn’t have such a bouquet of new possibilities in addition to the sports we loved before.” Alexander Held, Product Manager Foil D U O T O N E D U O T O N E 46 47 W H Y F O I L M A N I A
