Duotone Mag 2024

Height: 4 m approx. Spot: Mauritius Adrien Bosson “My biggest Windsurfing jump was probably a straight air in 45 knots, either at my homeplace, La Coudou, or in Carro (near Marseille). I remember only bits and pieces of it because the adrenaline rush was so intense! The wind was so strong, and I had so little control that I couldn’t go for a rotation, only a straight jump. I don’t know the exact height, but I would say around 8m, which is pretty high for Windsurfing.  Since I was a kid, I have been attracted to jumping and riding waves, obviously to get the best sensation but also the challenge to land a big jump, a crazy freestyle trick, or to ride an insane wave. When you look for a ramp, it is always exciting because you need to commit at 200% to do the jump you want to do, and there is a part of uncertainty as you’re playing with the elements. You can’t control everything, and it gives you a little bit of fear, which makes it unforgettable. Lately, I have been more into riding waves, and the feeling of hitting a big section is one of the best ever! The timing is crucial. If you are a second too late to hit the lip, you will go down to the bottom of the ocean, but when you get it right, the lip projects you into the air over the breaking wave, and you can feel the whole power of the wave!” Photo  John Carter D U O T O N E D U O T O N E 122 123 W H Y H E I G H T M A T T E R S
